Providing Insider News and Knowledge to Investors
Morning Report: Nutrien insider bought the summer pullback
September 14, 2026Canada's morning overview of insider filings with a special focus on companies that may interest active and momentum-oriented investors.
Overview:Sentiment and Stocks
Any commodity bull market is characterized by volatility, which can easily shake out investors who are fearful that a top has been established. This is where insider activity can help. When they are buying or holding through pullbacks, such as the case of Nutrien over the summer, their actions can help reinforce conviction that the bull market remains intact. Nutrien insider buying is also taking place as the six-month CPOA numbers rise. The first-half numbers, including the seasonally weaker Q1 period, came in at US$1.63 billion, up 12% from US$1.46 billion as global fertilizer prices, Retail segment sales, and Potash prices all rose. In its Q2 release, Nutrien said, "Global potash markets remain constructive due to favorable affordability, healthy demand in all major global markets and stable supply relative to other commodities. We have maintained our forecast for global potash shipments of 74 to 77 million tonnes in 2026 as projected shipment levels are expected to be consistent with consumption." The company also noted the geopolitical and weather risks. On balance, it is encouraging that insider behaviour is consistent with this outlook.
